Can You Combine Reformer Pilates and Strength Training?

1 min read

Yes. Reformer Pilates and strength training can work extremely well together because they challenge the body in different but complementary ways.

Why combine the two?

Strength training provides a clear route to progressively loading muscles and developing strength. Reformer Pilates adds controlled resistance, stability, coordination and movement variety. Combining them can produce a more rounded training week.

Will Reformer interfere with strength gains?

Not when your week is programmed sensibly. Your total training volume, recovery, nutrition and sleep all matter. The key is avoiding the temptation to make every session maximal and instead giving each session a purpose.

What could a weekly routine look like?

A simple routine might include two strength-focused sessions, one Reformer session and one conditioning session. Someone newer to training may start with fewer sessions, while an experienced member may comfortably do more.

One location, more ways to train

Body Hub in Wilmslow was built around this idea. Members can combine coached strength work, Small Group Personal Training, Large Group Training and Reformer Pilates without travelling between different gyms and studios. Speak to our team if you want help putting the right combination together.
